Third, greater shares of variable renewable generation make system flexibility and integration essential for industry. Time-shifting processes, industrial heat storage, and power-to-X buffers can align industrial demand with renewable supply and improve grid stability.

The analysis underscores that technological, regulatory and investment frameworks will influence how quickly industry adopts these pathways. Policy clarity, access to low-cost renewable power and targeted support for pilot projects are cited as key enablers for scaling.
