NTPC Green Energy Limited has commissioned 165 MW of solar capacity at its Khavda-II project in Gujarat, taking its total installed capacity to 9,727.68 MW, the company said.
The newly operational capacity is part of the fourth phase of the 1,200 MW Khavda-II Solar PV Project, with commercial operations effective from March 19, 2026.
The addition increases the company’s total capacity from 9,562.68 MW, reinforcing its position among India’s leading renewable energy developers.
The Khavda project is a key component of NTPC Green Energy’s strategy to scale up solar generation as part of India’s broader clean energy transition.
“This expansion underlines our commitment to green energy growth and achieving sustainable power solutions across India,” said Manish Kumar, Company Secretary and Compliance Officer at NTPC Green Energy.
NTPC Limited, the parent company, has been accelerating renewable capacity additions through its green energy subsidiary to align with India’s long-term decarbonisation goals.
The Khavda region in Gujarat is emerging as a major renewable energy hub, with large-scale solar and hybrid projects under development due to high solar irradiance and supportive infrastructure.
With this latest commissioning, NTPC Green Energy continues to expand its solar portfolio, contributing to India’s target of increasing renewable energy capacity significantly over the coming decade.
